Whenever I travel, I try to read the local newspaper. This not only gives me some insight on local attitudes, but sometimes it also reveals some great hidden gems.
This week I’ve been reading the Santa Fe New Mexican.
The ran an interesting feature in their Sunday travel section. Basically it highlighted the services of the visitors information center in the Santa Fe Plaza. The piece contained quotes from several volunteers, along with a list of the questions most frequently asked by visitors. Two questions immediately caught my attention.
- Where can I rent a wheelchair?
- Where is the nearest handicapped restroom?
It just goes to prove that more wheelchair-users and slow walkers really are traveling. And apparently they like Santa Fe.
So do I.
