There’s good news in the air for people with respiratory disabilities or those of us who just can’t stand the stench of cigarette smoke. Beginning January 1, 2006 all Westin properties in the United States, Canada and the Caribbean are going totally smoke-free. Yep, that’s right, there will be no smoking allowed in any pubic areas, rooms or even in the outdoor pool areas.
Three cheers for Westin!!
Those that ignore the new policy will pay a price for lighting up, as violators will be fined $200. That seems fair, since Westin is spending big bucks to deep clean and refurbish those smelly smoking rooms.
I already love the Westin Heavenly Beds, so in my mind this is just another reason to give Westin all of my business. Hopefully other hotels will follow suit. After all, according to Westin’s statistics, 92% of their guests request non-smoking rooms.
I guess the other 8% are tobacco company executives!
Way to go, Westin!
