Well, we?re off to British Columbia this morning, for a cross-BC road trip. I?m really looking forward to this trip, as I love British Columbia. It?s especially beautiful in the fall. I?m also excited about this trip because I?ve found a whole gaggle of unique accessible lodging options to check out for Emerging Horizons.
As many of you know, Vancouver is the site for the 2010 Olympic and Paralympic games. OK, technically many of the alpine events will be held in nearby Whistler, but they are still called the ?Vancouver games?. With that in mind, I will also be visiting Vancouver and Whistler to see what access upgrades are in the works. Vancouver is one of my favorite cities, and I have to say it?s already pretty accessible. Still with an event like this, there will be access improvements.
And if you?re in the Whistler area on September 16, drop by the Whistler Golf Course, as the 2010 Paralympic logo will be unveiled at a free music festival. The concert will feature bluesman Jim Byrnes, (who performed at the 2006 Paralympics? closing ceremony), and Spirit of the West. It promises to be a fun time for all, so check it out if you have the chance.
As for me, it?s time to pack the car and head north. I shall update you about my finds along the way.
