I?ve always had my doubts about Beijing being able to host the Paralympics. I?ve visited there several times and it?s not exactly the most accessible city in the world. But then again I held out a bit of hope for it, thinking that perhaps the Paralympic games would cause them to make some much needed access upgrades.
But I still have my doubts, especially after reading Ember Swift?s excellent “Canadian in Beijing” blog. Ember is apparently able-bodied but she devotes a whole blog entry to access issues in Beijing. And she covers it very well, with lots of photos. Check it out at :beijing-if-you-roll-when-you-stroll
From the looks of things, the folks in Beijing have a lot of work to do in the access department before 2008!
