Good news. For me as well as for the accessible travel genre. I just found out that my 101 Accessible Vacations; Travel Ideas for Wheelers and Slow Walkers, is a finalist in the ForeWord Book of the Year Contest.
That’s great for me, for obvious reasons. And it’s great for the genre, because anytime an accessible travel title is singled out, it brings more attention to the topic.
And more attention is good.
Never heard of the ForeWord Book of the Year? Well, if your not a librarian, bookseller, writer or publisher, that’s not surprising. ForeWord is literary trade journal devoted exclusively to reviewing independent press titles. The Book of the Year winners are determined by a panel of librarians and booksellers, selected from the ForeWord readership.
It’s a huge contest. Their are 61 categories, ranging form “adventure” to “young adult nonfiction”. My title is a finalist is the travel guide book category.
The winners will be announced at the 2009 Book Expo of America on May 29, 2009.
Wish me Luck!
