If you find yourself in Sonoma Valley, make sure and stop by Cornerstone Sonoma, for a great free self-guided tour of some very unusual gardens.
Billed as the first gallery-style garden exhibit in the United States, the gardens were created by a select group of landscape artists; who were each given 1,800 square feet and encouraged to showcase their new and innovative garden designs.
And boy, did they ever get creative!!
For example, one of my favorite pieces, A Blue Tree, features a dead tree covered with 70,000 sky blue Christmas ornaments. Then there’s Stone’s Throw, which has a giant pebble as the centerpiece; and Eucalyptus Soliloquy which uses eucalyptus windbreaks in a creative way.
There are barrier-free pathways through all the gardens, and best of all, there’s no admission charge. Cornerstone Sonoma also features accessible parking, level access to the shops and accessible restrooms.
