As you can imagine, I get a lot of products and gadgets to review. Admittedly, some are more appropriate for travel than others. Which was why I was taken a little bit aback when I received a sandal in the mail with the message “For a pair in your size, e-mail me today” attached. The mailing was creative, the offer intrigued me, and hey I was about to set out on a long road trip, so I figured it was a good opportunity to test drive the shoes. What gal in her right mind could refuse?
I really wasn’t expecting much, as the sample sandal was just plain blue and pretty basic; so I was really surprised when I received a pair of copper sandals, decorated with flowers and studded with rhinestones. Not my usual choice of shoe style, but I decided to go with it anyway. After all, it’s good to change things up a bit now and again.
So now I’ve been using these OKA b sandals on and off for about three weeks. The verdict? Well, although I wouldn’t recommend them for heavy walking, they are a great summer shoe for road trips, and they do look more stylish than my tried-and-true Tevas. Not that I would ever give up my Tevas, but the OKA b sandals are a little dressier and work well if you want to pop out for dinner after a long day on the road. They also pack well, clean up nicely after a day on the beach, and are pretty comfortable. All in all I’d give them a 4 out of 5 on the Candy scale.
Additionally the whole rhinestone theme allowed me to step out of my usual comfort zone and play a little with a new style. Not that I’?m saying it was a direct result, but maybe the shoes just put me in a more playful travel mood; because I found it difficult to pass up the “nice rack” rhinestone studded t-shirt that I found at an Idaho winery. And that turned out to be a pretty fun purchase!
The moral of the story? Although diamonds may be a girl’s best friend, it never hurts to have a few rhinestone pals too!
