See How Furniture is Made in Floyd, Virginia — And Get a Free Cutting Board!

Handcrafted barstool from Phoenix Hardwoods.

If your travels take you to Floyd, Virginia this weekend, then be sure and stop in and say hello to my friends at Phoenix Hardwoods Woodworking Shop. Of course Bill and Corrine regularly have their showroom open during the week, but this weekend – from Friday June 22 to Monday June 25 – they will have some extra demonstrations and special weekend hours. And a special giveaway for Barrier Free Travels Blog readers.

Their sawmill demonstration sounds particularly interesting. So wander on down there and see how they slice up logs with their five-foot saw. You know what they say – size does matter.

Seriously though, they do some beautiful work at Phoenix Hardwoods; where they hand craft everything from cutting boards to beds, tables and chests. And they can custom make something to fit your particular décor. I first went there on a press trip, and I was so impressed that I later ordered some bar stools from them for my mountain home. Well technically I was wait-listed for said bar stools, but that’s only because they are so popular. It was well with the wait though, as they are just perfect.  And comfy too!

And the good news is, Phoenix Hardwoods Woodworking Shop is wheelchair-accessible. The sawmill demonstrations will be held in a level outdoor area. And although their showroom is a bit tight in a few places, Corrine assured me that she’ll make sure there’s a 36-in path so that everyone can enjoy their beautiful work.

And if you mention this post to Corrine, you’ll get a free  6″x 8″ cutting board . You just can’t beat that!

Phoenix Hardwoods Woodworking Shop is located at 2540 Floyd Highway North, just six miles north of Floyd on Highway 221. And if you get lost, then just give Bill or Corrine a ring in the woodworking shop at (540) 745-7475.

Have a great weekend!
