Those of you who know me know that I’m a absolute aircraft junkie. I grew up in a flying family, and air shows and fly-ins were standard fare at our house. I’ve been to many aircraft museums over my career, and to be honest I never tire of them.
That’s why I was thrilled to hear that one of my favorites is having a cool May special for military folks. In honor of Military Appreciation Month, Fantasy of Flight is giving free admission to all active duty, retired and reserve members of the U.S. Armed Forces. Free — how can you get much better than that?
Located in Polk City, Florida, Fantasy of Flight boasts an impressive aircraft collection as well as several permanent exhibits. My favorite one highlights the Tuskegee Airmen, but the multimedia presentation about the WASPs runs a close second. But I have to say, my hands-down favorite thing in the museum is the B-17 Flying Fortress from WWII. Very cool!
Access is also good at Fantasy of Flight, with plenty of accessible parking, accessible restrooms, a level entry and ramped access to most of the exhibit areas.
So check them out this May — and save on admission if your a military member.
