With Christmas just around the corner, everyone is scurrying about trying to finish up their last-minute shopping. Or in my case, trying to start their last-minute shopping!
Semantics aside, if you are looking for a great gift for the traveler in your life, consider Circling the Earth in a Wheelchair, just released in September 2005.
This lighthearted travelogue chronicles the 1997 around-the-world journey of wheelchair-user Stan Morse. Stan's travels took him from Washington to Hawaii, Australia, New Zealand, Europe and the Far East before returning home to his law practice in Seattle.
This is a great book for the armchair traveler because it focuses on the spirit of the journey, instead of access details. Now granted Stan did run into a few glitches along the way, but her choose not to dwell on them.
All in all it's a very entertaining read. And a very welcome Christmas gift!
