Mike Augspurger of One-Off Titanium was kind enough to send me a really cool poster for the World Offroad Handcycle Championships. This first-ever event will be held on August 26-27, 2006 in Crested Butte, CO; and judging from the pictures on the poster it promises to be a true gut-buster of a competition.
Sponsored by Adaptive Sports Center of Crested Butte and One-Off Titanium, the competition will feature athletes riding offroad equipped handcycles in a variety of races; including a cross-country race, a hill climb and trials. For more information or to register for the event, visit http://www.ushf.org/offroad.html.
Spectators are of course welcome too (the start/finish is at the base of the ski area). Saturday’s events include the hill climb at 11 a.m. and trials at 2 p.m. The cross-country will be held on Sunday at noon.
So if you happen to be in the area, check it out. And if you are an offroad hancyclist, then register for the event. According to the poster, there’s $500 in prize money at stake. Plus it just looks like a lot of fun!
